Biography
Comedian and Ventriloquist Jeffrey Dunham was born on April 18, 1962 in Dallas
Texas. He was the adopted son and only child of a real estate appraiser. He begun his career with his extremely popular DVD "spark of life" in
2007. His characters have inspired praise from his fans, and sharp rebukes from
his critics. Jeff's early years started with him being asked to be in a commercial for the Dallas Datsun Dealership.
After high school, Dunham enrolled at Baylor University. The demands on his
schedule did not let up. His weekends were taken up with flights around
the country to his many performances. Around this time, Dunham also developed
three characters that would be a big part of his routine: the childlike
Peanut; the grumpy old Walter; and the unusual looking José, the Jalapeño on a
Stick.
By the mid 1990's Jeff Dunham had relocated to Los Angeles. In addition to comedy clubs, Jeff had semi-regular appearances to late night shows. But it took him almost a decade to get to his main goal. It started to happen around 2006. After years and years comedy central decided to change their course and showcase Dunham's self-produced one-hour special, Arguing with Myself.
His second major preformance "Spark of Insanity" had lots of record ratings and over 1 million copies were sold. A Very Special Christmas Special had similar results. After his shows hit popular entertainment outlets, Dunham was on par with comedy giants such as Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock in terms of grossing and viewership. Dunham appeared in a guest role with Bubba J on NBC's sictom 30 Rock, playing a ventriloquist named Rick Wayne and his dummy
Pumpkin from Stone Mountain, Georgia.[22] In
November 2009
Dunham then met a women named Paige and got married to her. They had 3 kids named Bree, Ashlyn, and Kenna then after a while, got divorced in 2010.
Jeff continues to do shows and tours around the world and takes great pride in his work.
In addition to his comedy specials, Dunham also released his first music album,
Don't Come Home for Christmas, on November 4, 2008.[18] It
contains original Christmas songs as well as a parody of "Jingle
Bells" by Achmed entitled "Jingle Bombs".
